Location: Takeout (Flatiron District)

At the start of the story, Sara works at Takeout Custom Publishing, a studio run by John. Sara and Frances are his only employees; Frances comes in once a week for bookkeeping. Sara’s at Takeout full time, but doesn’t receive benefits (she takes a sick day and mentions she won’t be paid for it).

While John thinks the name of the studio is very witty, Sara hates it because she has to field phone calls from confused people who apparently think it’s a takeout restaurant. What menu do they think they’re ordering from? Who knows, but she just wishes they’d go away.

The Takeout office is in the Flatiron District in Manhattan. Boundaries are always a bit blurry but it’s the area around the Flatiron Building on 23rd Street.
