Location: Sara's apartment (Lindenwood)

Sara’s apartment at the start of the story is in Lindenwood, Queens. Frances refers to it as “that weird neighborhood.” It’s very out of the way: Sara takes a long train ride, nearly to JFK airport, and then has to walk and walk to get to her apartment. This is not typically the kind of neighborhood young people who aren’t intent on starting families would move to, but it is less expensive than other areas. It’s surrounded by Howard Beach, East New York in Brooklyn, and a neighborhood called The Hole.
